Sleeping well during pregnancy can be a real challenge. These are the things that you will have to follow to cope up with the sleep disorders:
- You will first have to plan, prioritize as well as schedule sleep.
- It is essential to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. The important thing here is to ensure that your medical practitioner has not advised you not to use it.
- It is always good to sleep on the left side. It will help your fetus, kidney, and uterus to get adequate nutrients and also improve the blood flow. You should even not lie on your back for an extended time.
- It is also essential for you to drink lots of fluids during the entire day. The more significant part of this fluid should be water. You should, however, avoid the intake of fluids before bedtime.
- Heartburn is quite frequent during this time. So it is an excellent option to avoid acidic, spicy as well as fried food.
- It is a good idea to install a night lamp in the bathroom. So even when you get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet, you will not be aroused thoroughly.
- You will need day time naps, however, try to take the rest earlier during the day. If you make it in a later part of the day, then you might have problems getting sleep at night.
Treating Sleep Problems During This Time
It is not very easy to treat sleep disorders during pregnancy. It is because drug therapy can harm the fetus. This is because most of the drugs that treat insomnia are not very good for the fetus. So it is not at all a good idea to take them. The good news is, however, that these sleep disorders are only there till the time a woman is pregnant. They will vanish soon after the baby is delivered.
Sleeping disorders do, indeed, happen during pregnancy. But if you follow a specific schedule, then you will not face such issues at this stage. If you do a bit of exercise during this stage, then it will not at all be a problem.
